SYNOPSIS

With the gentle tip of the hat to J.M. Barrie’s immortality-tinged Peter Pan stories, The Lost Boys: a New Musical delves into the tale of the Emerson family who recently relocated to Santa Carla in search of a new life. Here, while recently divorced mother Lucy tries desperately to piece her life back together, her two teenage sons, Michael and Sam, meet the Frog brothers, self-proclaimed vampire hunters. The two boys get drawn into the dark underworld of bikers – but the real question remains: what really happens in Santa Carla when night falls?

With a world-renowned creative team at the helm, there is little doubt that The Lost Boys: a New Musical will hugely outdo the massive success of its source, the 1987 Joel Schumacher-directed film. David Hornsby and Chris Hoch have written an immaculate book, with new music and lyrics by The Rescues. 

The Lost Boys: a New Musical is headed up by two-time Tony Award-winning director Michael Arden (A Tale of Two Cities, Spring Awakening, My Fair Lady, Once on This Island, Annie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Parade, The Queen of Versailles), alongside choreographers Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant, and musical supervisor Ethan Popp. The creative team also includes the talents of scenic and video designer Dane Laffrey, costume designer Susan Hilferty, lighting designers Jen Schriever and Michael Arden, and sound designer Adam Fisher.

The Lost Boys: a New Musical is based on Joel Schumacher’s iconic cult-classic 1987 film, The Lost Boys, with the original screenplay written by Jeffrey Boam, Janice Fischer, and James Jeremias. The film was a massive critical and commercial success, grossing over $32 million. 

The Lost Boys: a New Musical, produced by Patrick Wilson, James Carpinello, and Marcus Chait has been in development for quite some time, and now finally, the stage adaptation, as directed by Michael Arden, is slated to have its world premiere on Broadway this season. The first single and music video from the production, Have To Have You featuring Slash, was released in mid-October 2025, and the EP The Santa Carla Sessions followed on Halloween.
